What the job needed
A low-set home where a patio attached under the existing gutter line would have blacked out the two rooms behind it. People often don’t find that out until the structure is up and the living room has gone dark.
What we built
A flyover. The roof mounts above the existing roofline instead of under it, so daylight still reaches the windows and air moves through the gap. We used insulated panel because the space faces north-west and gets the full afternoon sun.
Council
A flyover is taller than a skillion, so mean height matters more here and the application gets looked at more closely. Lodged with Brisbane City Council and approved.
