Logan City Council Approval for Carports & Patios

What decides it

The underlying building rules are state-level, so the same three things decide it everywhere in South East Queensland:

• Mean height of the structure.
• How close it sits to your boundary. 500mm is achievable with your neighbour’s written agreement.
• Any overlay over your property. This is where councils differ.

Each council adds its own planning scheme on top. That sets which overlays apply, how the application is lodged and what it costs.

How long it takes

2–6 weeks in the ordinary case, longer where a relaxation is needed.
