What the job needed
A pitched-roof brick home where a low skillion carport would have read as an afterthought bolted to the front of the house. The owners also wanted to get a boat on a trailer under cover, which rules out a low roof before aesthetics get a say.
What we built
A single gable carport, pitch matched to the house roof, running the length of the existing driveway. The ridge gives clearance for the trailer with room to spare, and the gable carries hot air up and out rather than trapping it against a flat ceiling.
Colorbond colour matched to the tiles as closely as the range allows.
Council
Approval was required — mean height is the measurement that decides it, and a gable is taller than a skillion. We prepared the drawings and lodged it.
