What the job needed
A pitched-roof brick home where a low skillion carport would have looked bolted on to the front of the house. The owners also wanted to fit a boat on a trailer under cover, which needs a higher roof anyway.
What we built
A single gable carport, pitch matched to the house roof, running the length of the existing driveway. The ridge gives the trailer clearance with room to spare, and the gable lets hot air rise up and out instead of trapping it under a flat ceiling.
Colorbond colour matched to the tiles as closely as the range allows.
Council
Approval was required. Mean height is the measurement that decides it, and a gable is taller than a skillion. We prepared the drawings and lodged the application.
